Our story

Every endeavor has a beginning, and the establishment of Padfoot Studio was a long time in coming.  I studied art in high school, and competed for art scholarships for college, but I also loved the sciences.

Eventually, pursuit of an education in the sciences won out, and my career went down the technology path.  While rewarding, the pressures and challenges of my career left me needing a creative outlet.  It became inevitable that I would create a space where the pressures of the world could drop away, a space to share with friends and other artists.

Padfoot Studio was born in 2014 with the loving efforts of my family and friends.  A small space in my home was converted into my studio, providing me with my escape.  I’m delighted to have this little spot where laughter, creativity, and collaboration is the theme.  I’m enjoying where this journey is heading!

Cherished colleagues

My hope is that Padfoot Studio is a space for collaborating artists to support and inspire each other to create unique, custom art pieces.

Collaboration with these talented individuals, along with friends and colleagues from many areas of my life, provides an escape into a creative space to laugh, and think (and sometimes drink a little wine) together.

Connie – Owner of CBT Jewelworks, Connie is a long-time friend, and an amazing bead worker with a tremendous talent.  She is a patient and thorough teacher, as well as an innovator.  In addition to glass work, Connie produces beautiful jewelry, from earrings and bracelets to pendants and very complex neck pieces.  Connie is also a master of kumihimo.  I don’t think there’s anything that she doesn’t do, and she does it all very well.

Amit – Inspired by nature, Amit’s paintings effectively express his creativity.  His color choices, and balance of textures and motion invite you to look deeper into his work.  I enjoy the times we can carve out time from our busy schedules to create together, inspiring each other to let ourselves flow into our art.  As a juried artist, Amit makes his work available through his web site at www.inspiredartexpressions.com.

Gail – Also a long-time friend, Gail is a multi-talented individual, with a knack for turning the ordinary into beautifully creative art pieces.  Gail’s thirst for learning new skills and her sense of adventure contribute to her wide-ranging creativity.  Gail produces lovely mosaics, garden art, beaded jewelry, and ink line drawings.  She, too, finds the escape to creativity a wonderful offset to her hectic work world.

Jean – Decades of knowing Jean, and seeing her amazing artistic talent expressed in so many ways, has often been a source of inspiration for me.  Jean and I have painted together, stamped together, and even done a little glasswork together.  Her true passion is in making cards, and she spreads joy and thoughtfulness with every one she designs.  Her amazing work at Studio JD can be seen at www.studio-jd.com.

Jackie - As a natural light photographer, Jackie shows her true talent for capturing the natural beauty of people. (And my padfoot family, too!) Jackie is a long time friend, and we’ve spent many hours scrapbooking together, sharing stories of our lives and families. Jackie is a wonderful artist and treasured friend, who has helped me over the years in more ways than she knows. See Jackie’s portraits at Studio Q online at www.studioqonline.com.

Megan – As the owner of a knit and yarn shop, Megan was a competent business woman and exceptionally skilled in fiber arts, from knitting and crochet to tatting, felting, and kumihimo.  She had talents too many to mention, and her knowledge of all things fiber was, and remains, truly awe-inspiring.  Megan was a good friend and a marvelous source of inspiration for many of my glass pieces, and like me, had a background in the sciences.  This dear friend has passed into a different space now, and her presence in my studio is sorely missed, but I feel comfort in knowing that she still inspires my art.
